about medisiam

MediSiam is one person. I am Brendan Barnhill, an Australian marketer based in Sydney, and I build Thai private hospitals and clinics their own Australian patient channel.

The person you hire is the person who does the work

I have spent 20 years in marketing. MediSiam is a solo practice by design, not by accident. There is no account manager between you and the work, no junior doing the writing under someone else's name, and no handoff after the sale. The person who audits your Australian visibility, writes your pages and reads your numbers is the person you emailed. The honest consequence is limited capacity, and I say no to work when I am full rather than dilute what existing clients get.

An Australian healthcare marketing practice

My current working week is anchored in Australian healthcare marketing. That work is done inside the rules that govern what can be said to Australian patients, including the constraints the Therapeutic Goods Administration and Australian Consumer Law place on health advertising. This matters for Thai providers more than it first appears. Attracting Australian patients means publishing in Australia's regulatory environment as well as Thailand's, and I work in the Australian half of that equation every week.

Why Thailand

Three things brought me to this market.

First, the moment. Thai government policy explicitly prioritises international dental and aesthetic services under the Medical Hub strategy running to 2034, and the medical treatment visa has recently become easier and cheaper for patients.

Second, the gap. Thai providers demonstrably spend on international patient acquisition, but the capability on the ground skews to Chinese, Middle Eastern and regional markets. Nobody in the visible market specialises in the Australian patient: what Australians search, what worries them, which trust signals convince them, and how they decide. That ground is undefended.

Third, the model problem. The dominant alternative for a mid-tier clinic is a booking platform that charges a commission on every patient, forever, while the reviews and rankings accrue to the platform's domain rather than the clinic's. I think clinics deserve the option of owning their channel instead of renting it, and that conviction shapes everything on this site, including the pricing.

One operator, two ventures, stated plainly

I also operate an independent consumer reference site about medical travel to Thailand, written for Australian patients. I state that here because you should hear it from me, not discover it.

The two ventures are separated by hard rules, not habits. The reference site never names, lists, ranks, recommends or reviews any specific provider, and that includes MediSiam clients. It takes no payment of any kind from any provider. Its editorial method relies on public registers and cited sources that anyone can check. A MediSiam engagement buys nothing there, ever, and every client agreement states that in writing.

I run it the same way I run my Australian agency brands: same operator, different purposes, disclosed openly on both sides. If anything, working the consumer side is why I understand what Australian patients need answered before they will book, which is the knowledge this consultancy is built on.

Early stage, said honestly

MediSiam is new, and I will not dress that up. There are no client logos on this site yet, and there are no invented case studies or testimonials, because I do not fabricate proof. What I offer instead are standards you can verify right now: pricing published in full, which no agency in this market does, a working method documented on this site, compliance knowledge you can check clause by clause, measurement that lives in your own accounts, no lock-in beyond the fixed sprint, and a free written report before you commit a single dollar. The work is auditable from day one. That is the deal.
